HIGHLIGHTS: Also from the Foreward by Beverly Cappel-King, DVM: “I hope The Encyclopedia of Natural Pet Care will inspire you to become more involved in your pets’ care, to improve their diet, to question and learn about every medical procedure that anyone, including a holistic veterinarian, recommends for them, to become actively involved in their care and to expect a lifetime of good health, glossy coats, bright eyes, strong bones, alert intelligence and calm dispositions in your furred and feathered companions.” Dr. Goldstein started his practice as a traditional veterinarian, relying on antibiotics and steroids as the treatments of choice for most imbalances in his patients. Through his own personal healing crisis, he discovered how significantly nutrition, herbals and homeopathic remedies can affect health and longevity for all of us - cats, dogs and humans. This book has an excellent section on use of herbs, including dosage and length of use. Shocking facts about the dog and cat food industry are revealed. by Richard H. Pitcairn (Author), Susan Hubble Pitcairn Dr. Pitcairn studied traditional veterinary medicine initially. This is a wonderful book that contains easy-to-make, nutritionally complete recipes for dog and cat food. Also includes an eye-opening, in-depth discussion of the pet food industry. And if that's not enough, Dr. Pitcairn's discussion of the most common canine and feline imbalances is extremely helpful and encouraging. by Wendell Belfield, DVM Dr. Belfield attended veterinary school in the 1950's. Along with invaluable information about how nutrients work in the body, he discusses numerous cases of dogs who were saved from euthanasia by supplementing their diets with the appropriate nutrients. I love this book! Dr. Belfield is a true hero for our canine and feline friends. He was ridiculed and scoffed at by his fellow veterinary students for even mentioning the use of Vitamin C to treat distemper and other imbalances, yet his approach saved many animals from certain death. Helpful charts show how much and which supplements he recommends.
